Beginner Archery Classes

Our classes are available for both youth ages 10 to 18 years and adult archers wanting to learn the sport. 

Beginner 1 / Explore Archery -  

Florida Archery Foundation's Explore Archery session is a 3 week class that will introduce you to the sport by teaching safety and basic form as well as giving you a chance to try both compound and recurve equipment.  

Explore Archery is fun and a perfect fit for archers  of any age or ability wanting to get involved in the sport of  archery.  If you are new to the sport of archery or a beginner archer looking for an introductory program to sign up for, Explore Archery has what you need to get started! You'll learn important skills like range safety and proper shooting form, play exciting games, earn awards for your progress and learn the skills to move on to more advanced sessions.  

Once you sign up for an Explore Archery class you can come any Saturday @ 9AM until you earn your 1st two skill awards.  

Minimum Age 10 years old but younger kids may be considered with direct parental supervision. Closed toe shoes must be worn on the range at all times - no flip flops or sandals please.

 



Beginner 2 Class 

This is the next step for archery students who have completed Beginner 1 / Explore Archery! or who have attended drop-in sessions and have earned their 1st two Achievement Awards (Safety & Equipment).  This class will focus on shooting form and students will learn the 10 Steps Of Archery as well as the basics of scoring in archery competition.  Archers will have the chance to earn their next two Achievement Awards (Archery Form & Scoring).  Sessions will incorporate games to test the archer's skills and accomplishments.  

  • Class Duration: 4 week session, 1 Class per week.  
  • All equipment is provided, however, if student has their own equipment they should bring it. 
  • Prerequisites: Successfully earning the Safety Skill Achievement Award & the Equipment Skill Achievement Award in either our Explore Archery!/Beginner  1 Class, or, through Drop-in or personal lessons. 

      Beginner 3 Class

      This is the next step for archery students who have completed Beginner 2 or who have attended drop-in sessions and have earned their Safety, Equipment and Scoring Achievement Awards.  This class will focus on the last two Achievement Awards (Form and Shot Execution) and will go in depth into the 10 Steps Of Archery.   Sessions will incorporate games to test the archer's skills and accomplishments  When students complete this class they will be able to enter into one of our ongoing programs such as, Joad, S3DA, Adult Archery or Youth Archery Challenge class.

      • Class Duration: 4 week session, 1 Class per week.  There will be one day at the end of the class session for making up any classes missed.  See the Schedule tab on the left for complete class times/dates
      • All equipment is provided, however, if student has their own equipment they should bring it. 
      • Closed toe shoes must be worn on the range at all times - no sandals or flip flops
      • Prerequisites: Successfully earning the Safety, Equipment and Scoring  Skill Achievement Award in either our Explore Archery!/Beginner  1 Class, Beginner 2, or, through Drop-in or personal lessons.
